Pickup game sign-up —
one tap, a cap, a waitlist

A pickup game needs exactly one thing from the chat: a count. This kind of event puts that count on the card, caps it at the number of players a game needs, and queues the eleventh person instead of turning them away.

What the group sees

Choose Pickup game and the event is set to one-tap joining with ten spots and a waitlist, repeating weekly. Type the court and the time, share the link, and the card in the chat shows the roster chips and “6 / 10 joined”. When the tenth player joins, the pill turns to “Join waitlist”, and the first person on it moves in the moment someone drops out.

The pickup game card: Sunday pickup basketball
Example: “Sunday pickup basketball”. Every chat app shows this card; tapping it opens the page.
  • One tap to join
  • 10 spots
  • Waitlist
  • 2 hours
  • Repeats weekly
  • Invite card layout

Because the event repeats, the same link works next week: the card rolls to the next date on its own, the list starts fresh, and last week’s roster is kept as history on the page. Regulars keep the link pinned; nobody hunts for a new one on Thursday night.

How to set it up

1
Pick Pickup game

The creator sets one tap to join, ten spots, a waitlist and a weekly repeat. Change the number to match your game.

2
Name the court and the time

Type where and when. The card draws the date on its rail and the countdown as the day gets close.

3
Pin the link in the chat

Players tap to join; when someone leaves, the waitlist fills the gap and the card says who is in.

What it does for you

The count is on the card

Nobody scrolls the thread to count thumbs-up. The card says 8 / 10 and shows the chips.

A waitlist instead of a fight

The eleventh player queues in order and moves in automatically. The host does nothing.

Same link every week

A weekly repeat rolls the date forward and clears the list. Last week is kept on the page.

Pickup game FAQ

What if we need an odd number, like 12 for six-a-side?

Set the capacity to any number up to 500 when you create it, or change it later from the admin panel on the page.

Can someone bring a friend?

Turn on plus-ones and a player can add a guest; guests count toward the cap so the game never oversubscribes.

Does the card update when people join?

Chat apps cache the card, so the host shares the link again and the fresh card shows the current count. The page is always live.
