Every CollectiveTap link, whether an Event, a Vote, a Sheet or a Split, comes with its own plain-language insights. Open it as the organizer and see how the group responded: no dashboard to set up, no account to log into, and no tracking of the people who tapped.
This is the real component with sample numbers. Your own links show live data in exactly this layout.
What you see
Insights answer the three questions every organizer asks after sharing a link: did anyone see it, did it get passed along, and did people actually respond.
- Views: how many times the participant page was opened. Every open counts, so the same person opening it twice counts twice.
- Shares: how many times a chat app loaded the link's preview card. That happens each time the link is posted somewhere new, so it is a good proxy for how far the link travelled.
- Responses: the tool's own action, named in the tool's own words. A Vote counts votes, an Event counts RSVPs, a Sheet or Note counts edits, and a List, Task, Split or Hub counts updates.
- Activity over time: a chart of views, shares or responses (tap a number to switch) per hour, per day, or per week, depending on the period. Point at or tap any spot on the chart to read every number for that hour, day or week.
- Where people came from: WhatsApp, Slack, Telegram, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn when the app identifies itself. iMessage and SMS do not, so those opens land in "iMessage, text or copied link", split by iPhone, Android and computer.
- Recent activity: a short feed of the latest opens, preview loads and responses, each with a relative time such as "4 min ago".
Four time periods are available: the last 24 hours, the last 7 days and the last 30 days, with the days aligned to your local midnight, and all time, from the moment the link was created. The shorter periods compare each number with the same stretch just before it, so "up 31%" means more views this week than last.
Where to find it
When you create any tool, CollectiveTap gives you two links: a share link for the group and a private organizer link to keep for yourself. The device you created it on is remembered as the organizer too. Open the link there, or open the organizer link anywhere, and expand Admin controls at the top of the page. Insights sit near the bottom of it, after the settings and link access, and load when you scroll to them.
- Nothing to switch on. Insights are collected for every link from the moment it is created.
- Nothing to install. The panel loads inside the same page your participants see, only with organizer access.
- Works on your phone. The layout is built for the screen you shared the link from. Numbers stack, the chart stretches to fit, and the touch readout follows your finger.
Lost the organizer link? The device you made the link on still opens it as the organizer. On other devices Insights need the organizer link, so keep it somewhere safe. People who only have the share link cannot see any of these numbers.
Counts, never identities
Link Insights are built on the same principle as the rest of CollectiveTap: the people who tap your link should not have to give anything up to take part. So the activity behind Insights is deliberately thin.
- No names, accounts or contacts in Insights records. Participants never sign in, so there is nothing to attach a view to. (Names a group types into a tool, like an Event RSVP or a vote on a poll that asks for names, are part of that link's content, shown on its page; they never feed Insights.)
- No IP addresses in activity records. Each record holds the link, the kind of action, the time, and the chat app or device family it came from. That is enough to draw the chart and nothing more.
- No cross-link tracking. Every link's Insights are scoped to that link alone. There is no profile that follows a person from one link to the next.
- Organizer-only, verified on the server. The numbers are served only after the server re-checks a signed organizer capability for that specific link, the same check that protects editing and closing.
Because nobody is identified, Insights cannot tell you who opened the link or how many unique people did. That trade is on purpose. Read more in the privacy policy and the security overview.
What each tool counts
The third headline number is always the tool's own action, so the panel reads naturally whichever tool you are running.
- Vote counts votes. See whether the poll stalled at ten views and two votes, or whether the group actually decided.
- Event counts RSVPs: every Going, Maybe, Can't go or change of plan. Compare views against RSVPs to know whether to nudge the chat again.
- List, Task and Split count updates: ticks, new tasks, expenses and payments, so you can tell whether it is being used or just looked at.
- Note and Sheet count edits, from a changed paragraph to a claimed sign-up spot.
- Hub counts updates to the Hub itself; each child link keeps its own Insights.
